Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Wednesday, honored the eighth-day fidau prayer for the late Alh Abdulkadir Kabba Alih Obaje at his residence in Idah.
The Governor was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, who was accompanied by Hon. Thomas Offor, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties II; Hon. Adejoh Nicodemus, Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce and Industry; Hon. Ibrahim Aboh, Adviser to the Governor on Environment; Hon. Onojah James, Idah Federal Constituency Security Adviser to the Governor; and Hon. Salisu Sani Ogwu, former Commissioner for Transportation, among others.
During the prayers, the Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the Idah local government area, the Attah of Igala, and the bereaved family. He stressed the important role that the deceased played in the Igala kingdom and Kogi State.
The Governor said that the late Alhaji Kaaba would be greatly missed due to his great contributions and dedicated service to the state.

He urged the leaders of the area to champion the unity of the Igala kingdom and to rally around the current administration to ensure the continued delivery of the dividends of democracy, cautioning that disengagement from the government could deprive the area of essential amenities.
He noted that the government knows that Idah is the headquarters of the Igala kingdom, which is why the Governor recently flag-off the rehabilitation of Idah township road to demonstrate his commitment to the area, pledging that the government’s doors remain widely open to receive their support.

He prayed for divine mercy upon the deceased, asking God to grant him eternal rest, and to bestow upon the grieving family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss.
The late Alh Abdulkadir Kabba Alih Obaje, aged 81, was the firstborn of the former Attah of Igala, His Royal Majesty late Alhaji Alih Obaje. He passed away on the 18th of June 2025 following a brief illness and is survived by his wife and twelve children.
