Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello yesterday said that machinery to review contracts awarded by past administrations in the state has been set in motion.
He said the measure was to complete such projects most of which were abandoned or recover public funds expended on them.
Bello disclosed this at a meeting with the contractors which also featured the presentation and receipt of report by a consultant, Designage Consult, in Government House, Lokoja.
The governor who said that the independent consultant was commissioned by the state government to visit the projects’ sites to ascertain the level of execution of the projects, urged defaulting contractors to go back to site.
He said that his government had to review all contracts awarded in the past whose level of job execution are not commensurate with the contract sums collected.
“We will not go back to award a contract that has once been awarded. We are not going to close our eyes to one naira of public fund misappropriated in the past.
“I was sworn in to protect the interest of the people of the state and that, I am ready to achieve’’, he said.
