Kogi State House of Assembly has debunked the rumour making round that the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has requested for N10 billion loans, stressing that such request never came before the Assembly for approval.
This was disclosed in a press conference addressed by the House Committee Chairman on Information, Hon. Sunday Shigaba at the Assembly Complex, Lokoja.
He said the 6th Assembly was shocked to read the malicious and satanic publication online trying to rubbish and tarnish the good image of Kogi State House Assembly, stressing that as far as the House of Assembly is concerned under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole, the governor never sent any letter requesting for approval of N10 billion loan.
Hon. Shigaba said since there were no request abinitio, the story of N200 million bribes or kick back for the Honourable Members and the Speaker is baseless as such, the information should be disregarded.
The Committee Chairman also added that any member of the House of Assembly have the right and choice to decide whichever party he or she can belong, pointing out that it is legitimate right of Hon. Idris Ndako to abandon his former party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It is also the prerogative of every member by constitutionally guaranteed right to association to decide which party they want to belong and hence such is not generating any controversy within the House.
He said there is neither a crack nor crisis within the current leadership under Rt. Hon. Kolawole and the House as a whole, stressing that those insinuating crisis are only doing that for selfish reasons.
He said change of leadership did not arise at any point, calling on Kogites and the general public to support and have faith in the 6th Assembly that is working with the Executive to fast track overall development of the State.
