By Comrade Adabara Jelil El-Okene, Kogi.
Kogi State Government led by Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello should take bold step to charge any civil servants, top government official involve in diverting and siphoning state treasury to court for salary fraud of several millions of Naira.
The Screening committee has so far discovered many top government workers from the state down to local government staff for defrauding the state. Those top government workers were illegally and fraudulently received million of naira as monthly salary in the name of many retired civil servant, ghost workers and dead civil servants in various departments. Those fraudsters illegal and fraudulent receipt of huge amount of money each as monthly salary for years through fictitious names of NYSC corps members. Enough is enough.

Therefore, I urge all the entire Kogites not to lose sight on good governance under this present administration. Behind all good leadership is good governance. Good governance delivering corruption free in both public and private service. This is government that promised to create employment opportunity, youth’s empowerment, and elimination of poverty and offer transparent governance. I doubt if any worker physically present during the screening exercise would lose his/her job in the name of ghost worker but some circumstances can lead to such. Nevertheless, GYB administration has assured the Kogites that no genuine workers will lose his/her job that his government intention is to clear the rot in the system. Over decades, the systems are in bad shape. How can a person collecting salaries of over 48 peoples in pretext. Kogi Economic situation is more like Nigeria case under PMB. Patient is require in this case but a hungry man is an angry person. Let us call a spade a spade.
It is common wisdom that behind every leader are a team that executes the vision and many followers who support the leader’s work. Yet, we rarely talk about the accountability mechanisms that make sure the leadership is on the right course. Any leader and all teams, to succeed in the long run must have the strategic support and expert oversight they receive that keep them and their state on the right path. Governance, which includes boards, monitoring systems and signaling mechanisms like codes of conduct, ensures the success of leadership visions and state potential in the long run.
