Kogi State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, has on Saturday reacted to a petition written by the suspended party secretary, John Anjorin, noting that the governor has no moral justification to accused the party executive committee of anti-party activities.
The petition was allegedly sponsored by the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
Ametuo alleged that Bello worked for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Captain Idris Wada, during the November 2015 governorship election.
It also advised Bello “not to destroy the party with his selfish and anti-democratic agenda.”
The APC chairman stated this when he appeared before the party’s North Central Zone Fact Finding Panel to clear his name over allegations of anti-party activities.
Ametuo stormed the North Central zonal office in Lafia with 39 out of 54 members of the state APC executive committee and other party stalwarts as well as supporters.
This was sequel to a petition written against the embattled state Chairman by the suspended APC state secretary, John Anjorin.
In his defense, Ametuo told the panel that the petition lack merit saying that some signatories to the petition are ghosts.
Buttressing his claim, he explained that; “the inclusion of unqualified and ghost executive committee members as signatories in the petition is not only fraudulent but criminal.
“Hon. Taufik Isah who has been appointed as Ijumu LGA caretaker chairman signed as party chairman. Osanaiye Taiwo who died since 2015 signed as secretary, Ijumu LGA. Haruna Isah cannot sign as Lokoja LGA APC chairman because he has been appointed as SA to the governor.”
Responding to the issues raised in the petition, Ametuo annoyingly said; “Our governor, Yahaya Bello joined APC in February 5, 2015 when it was obvious that President Mohammodu Buhari was going to win the presidential election at time when we have concluded all rallies.
“We have toiled day and night rain and sunshine since 2014 through membership registration exercise, congresses, conventions, primaries, rallies and to all elections in Kogi State – a feat that was near impossible.
“Those of us who made these victories possible are still much intact and focused.
“We are still prepared to recover the lost soul of our party in the state to repeat a resounding victory for President Muhammadu Buhari and recapture all the legislative seats in the state.
“We therefore request that this petition from this set of liars and impersonators be thrown into dustbin for lack of merit,” Ametuo prayed.
