He expressed dismay that past administrations failed to give serious weight to reconstructing the roads leaving the people to suffer the consequences of the bad stretch. He added that the completion of the roads will impact positively on the social and economic lives of the people.
“The dilapidated state of the roads in Kogi East has subjected the people to untold hardships especially during the rainy season. It is on record that previous governments made various efforts to undertake the rehabilitation of this road, but the plans fell short due to the enormous resources required to actualize this capital intensive projects but for the critical role these roads play in the socio-economic lives of my people in these areas, we must pull our resources to put an end to the suffering of my people in Igala land”, governor Bello said.
He recalled that when the present administration came on board in January 2016, it met hollow treasury with huge liabilities and a number of projects awaiting execution while the federal allocation to the state from the federation account keeps on dwindling.
“It is for these reasons that my New Direction administration resolved to face the reality by planning on how to work for the good people of the state in order to fulfil our campaign promises despite the acute financial limitation affecting Kogi State,” he stressed.
Governor Bello further explained that embarking on rural road construction and rehabilitation is born out of the commitment of his government of New Direction to improve the socio-economic status of the entire citizenry of the state.
He reaffirmed that his administration will take the state to greater height and urged people of the state to continue closing ranks to build the Kogi of their collective dreams.
Governor Bello and his entourage were received by mammoth crowd at Idah, Okpo and Ankpa.
