Gov Bello Empowers Vulnerable Women in Lokoja LG

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, yesterday, in his usual magnanimity demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of women particularly the vulnerable ones in our society such as the widows, the aged, the physically challenged as he donated to each the sum of fifty thousands naira in fulfilment of the promise made on the 8th March, 2018, at Lokoja Township Stadium, during the celebration of the 2018 World Women’s Day.
Declaring the event open, the Administrator of Lokoja Local Government, Hon. Shiru Lawal, while addressing the beneficiaries of Lokoja lg in the council today  maintained that the gesture was in fulfilment and demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to bring succour to the vulnerable ones in our society saying, they should make judicious use of the money.
While commending the Governor for extending his milk of kindness to less privileged ones in the area, he called for more support to the new direction government in its relentless efforts to make Kogi State better.
The Wife of Administrator, Hajiya Fatima Shiru, while giving her speech described the constant support of the Governor to Mrs. Rashidat Bello in her quest to alleviate the plights of women as quite commendable, noting that the shared leaders style has not only brought tremendous succour to the women fold but has also place them on the path of progress towards becoming self reliance and economically independent.
She thanked the first lady, Mrs. Rashidat  Bello whom she described as a mother with large heart for the life changing token and urged the beneficiaries to use the fund for the purposes intended.
She assured of the continued support of the women of Lokoja local government to the first lady and Governor Yahaya Bello’s led new direction administration aimed at transforming the state for better.
In her remarks, one of the beneficiaries of the gesture thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for remembering them and prayed for Allah’s guidance and direction in piloting  the state’s affairs saying, fifty thousand naira is not a token, it is a huge some of money and you are given  to people of our likes, God will reward and bless your leadership throughout your tenure.
The beneficiaries cut across the 21 local government areas of the state. And this no doubt would go along way in reducing the level of poverty and hunger amongst the vulnerable women in our state.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of fifty thousand naira cash to each of the  beneficiaries.
Those who witnessed the life changing programme include the administrative members of the local government, the COS, the DLG and Treasurer, SA women Affairs, the PRO among others.
