Kogi State Governor, Alh Yahaya Bello has announced the dissolution of the outgoing Seventh House of Assembly
Governor Yahaya Bello made the dissolution during the valedictory session held on the floor of the House on Monday.
The Governor cited relevant sections of the constitution to affirm that the Assembly is dissolved with immediate effect.
He said “Whereas it is provided in Section 105 Subsection 1 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, that a House of Assembly shall stand dissolved at the expiration of a period of four years commencing from the date of the first sitting of the House.

Kogi Speaker, Kolawole, Reels Out Gains, Losses During 6th, 7th Assemblies
Outgoing Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mathew Kolawole said the assembly lost two members during their tenure.
He listed the deceased members as John Abba of Ibaji Constituency and Jimoh Omiata of Yagba East State Constituency.
He also said they lost two wives of the members who were late Ibaji Lawmaker’s and his during their tenure in office.
He appreciated outgoing lawmakers for their support towards ensuring the success of the 7th assembly.
Kolawole said the 7th assembly has ensured good governance in the last seven years, adding that the assembly passed 1451 resolutions.
According to him, the Assembly passed 688 regular motions.
Kolawole said the Assembly passed 52 bills, 32 which are executive bills and 20 which are private members bills while 37 were passed and assented to by the Kogi State Government.
He added that two bills were currently awaiting assent while one bill was withheld, adding that a total of 12 bills were at various stages of consideration before the end of the seventh legislative Assembly.
