Gov. Bello Appoints Prof. Solomon Avidime CMD Reference Hospital Okene

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has approved the appointment of Professor Solomon Avidime as the Chief Medical Director, Kogi State Reference Hospital, Okene.

The approval was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade.

Professor Solomon Avidime was until his appointment a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The appointment which takes effect from July 24th, 2023 is for an initial period of two years, and subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance

“This is sequel to your experience, competence and exceptional capabilities in Health Sector. It is believed that you shall carry out the task of ensuring proper set-up and effective take-off of the Hospital.

“It is hoped that you will repose the confidence His Excellency, the Governor has in your abilities. Note that this appointment is for an initial period of two (2) years and subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance,” she said.

The hospital which was commissioned by former President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2022, is a tertiary medical institution fully equipped with cutting-edge technology to provide health relief to the people of the state, and reduce medical tourism in Nigeria.

The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Zakari Usman in October 2022 revealed that the State Government had reached concession agreement with Zenith Medicare and Kidney Center, to ensure sustainability of the equipment and facilities in the hospital.
