A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state, Otunba Adeniyi Olayemi, has described Governor Yahaya Bello as a unique leader.
Speaking on the meeting between Governor Bello and chieftains of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC), Otunba Sam Aro and Arc Salman Idris respectively in Abuja on Monday, Olayemi said the state number one man has bridged political divides in Kogi.
Olayemi, the Director General Ododo/Joel Campaign Council for Kabba-Bunu local government, noted that in Kogi state, politics has gone beyond party affiliations as a result of Governor Bello’s sterling performance in office.
“In Kogi state, the White Lion leads, and we follow. Otunba Sam Aro, a PDP stalwart, anchored a progressive meeting with the executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the incoming Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo. An ADC chieftain, Arc Salman Idris, member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency in the House of Representatives, was also present at the meeting.
“Governor Yahaya Bello’s developmental strides and legacy projects speaks volume. GYB is undoubtedly the hero of our time,” he said.
Otunba Olayemi recalled that in the last three days, a former Governor of the state, Capt. Idris Wada and the gubernatorial candidate of ADC, Hon Leke Abejide, had also visited Governor Bello, all extolling his bold, unusual leadership in the state.
“The genuine positions of these opposition party leaders has further laid credence to the historic administration of Governor Yahaya Bello in the last eight years. The last 8 years had witnessed purposeful leadership, disciplined execution of laudable projects and prudence in the management of our resources.
“Governor Yahaya Bello has undoubtedly moved Kogi state to a higher level in the last eight years as attested to by all and sundry.
“I have absolute confidence in the capacity of the incoming Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, to build rapid blocks of development on this solid foundation laid by GYB.
“Under the incoming administration, Kogi will witness rapid development and will become the pride of all,” he added.
Otunba Olayemi expressed optimism that Kogi politics will be less rancourous in the coming years as Governor Bello had already broken the jinx of primordial sentiments and unnecessary political antagonism.
He called on all Kogi indigenes, at home and in diaspora, to join hands with the incoming government to achieve its lofty visions for the state.
