Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu Mohammed was appointed in February, 2016 as the Director General, Protocol, Government House, Lokoja by the 4th Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello. Asuku, a thoroughbred humanitarian has continued to prove that the appointment is well deserved.
The onerous task of Director General, Protocol is not a job for rabble-rousers, but a task that only genuinely concerned intellectuals can handle. Pharm Abdulkareem Asuku no doubt proved his leadership prowess during the years in office as the best DG Protocol Kogi state ever produced. Within these years, his legacy programs have become a major reference point for youth and the generality of political office holders in Kogi State and other states of the Federation.
Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu Mohammed attended the prestigious Abdul Aziz Atta Memorial College, Okene before he proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he studied Pharmaceutical Science.
As a result of his commitment to ethical medical practice, Hon Asuku had a very eventful career as professional pharmacist, and rose to the position of Head, Pharmacy Department at Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Akwa Ibom State.
Long before his appointment as Director General, Protocol to Kogi State Government, he is has demonstrated the qualities of political sagacity among which is his scholarly argument that the Governor Yahaya Bello administration is a people-oriented government that has delivered the dividends of democracy to the populace.
I will say his leadership has affected his people in several ways because apart from the primary responsibilities of the office, Pharm Asuku has also touched the lives of his people. At the moment, the Director General’s passion for educational development of youth has triggered multi sectoral development of Kogi State as he continues to engage youth in projects and activities that enhances their social and economic well being.
Pharmacist Asuku has ensured qualitative education for youths in Kogi Central by making payment of school fees for the less-privilege in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. He also embarked on a free registration of over one hundred people enrolled in the Joint Administrations Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations registration program for students in Kogi Central.
Over 100 beneficiaries across the five local governments in Kogi Central benefitted from his magnanimity in last couple of years. Pharm. Asuku did not stop at that, he began an educational support program aimed at giving financial assistance to new entrants into the universities by giving financial support to those who secure admission into tertiary institutions in the country.
His educational foundation organized seminars for students on the need to end examination malpractice in educational institutions in Kogi Central Senatorial District and the State as a whole.
Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku also embarked on a program tagged, “Pharm Abdulkareem Asuku Youth Empowerment Foundation”; a three- month Skill Acquisition Program encompassing three key areas namely Solar Technology, Printing and Publishing.
As at last count, more than one hundred and fifty people have benefited from the gesture. The beneficiaries took part in the following fields:- Cisco Networking, Copter Engineering, Oracle, ICT Security, I.T Governance, Advanced Graphics, Web Design/Hosting among others.
In area of health, Pharm Asuku hass been rated as excellent. He has shouldered the medical bills of victims of accidents both within and outside the state.
He has also secure jobs to our teeming youths, in various ministries both at state and federal levels. Meanwhile, we have assessed the performance of this young and dynamic servant; we discovered the excellence in his leadership.
In sports development, Pharmacist Asuku took the lead to host football tournaments in Okene to foster peace, love, care and unity for the entire populace.
