No less than 100 houses have been razed by cooking gas explosion in Jamata, a Kogi community along Lokoja-Abuja highway.
It was gathered that that the explosion destroyed buildings and property worth millions of naira on Wednesday.
Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Bashir Abubakar Gegu, who visited the community, lamented the losses and urged citizens to be careful while using cooking gas.
“I am urging all and sundry to abide by the rules of gas usage. This accident is avoidable, but for negligence and failure to abide by the safety rules of the use of cooking gas, this happened,” he added.
He assured the victims of the state government’s immediate and long-term support to enable them to get back on their feet and in their businesses.
