A 32-year-old furniture maker, Kabiru Bala, was on Friday remanded in prison by a Lokoja Chief Magistrate’s Court over offences allegedly committed between 2008 and June 2013.
The accused Bala (a.k.a. Okwo) of Ejule-Ogane in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State was arraigned on five different First Information Reports (FIRs) by the state police command.
The prosecutor said the offences which include culpable homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, mischief making and criminal conspiracy, are contrary to various sections of the Penal Code.
In one of the cases, one Vincent Ugwu alleged that the accused on December 18, 2008, shot dead his brother, Emmanuel Ugwu, in his shop in Ejule.
According to the FIR, Vincent had left three of his apprentices including the deceased in the shop on that day when Okwo (as he is popularly known) and his gang came shooting sporadically and shot dead his brother.
