A Professor Of Fish Genetics and Breeding with Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Olufeagba Samuel Olabode noted that regular intake of fish is good to avoid heart attack.

Prof. Olufeagba stated this at the 39th Inaugural Lecture of the University titled “Fish Genetics and Sustainable Aquaculture: Pathways to Food Security and Blue Economy.”

According to him, fish is highly nutritious, saying regular eating it regularly will protect the people from the risk of having heart diseases and attack.

Prof. Olufeagba, who noted that fish genetics can enhance sustainable fish production, supporting fisheries and aquaculture systems, said plans are on to boost fish business in Lokoja.

“Induced breeding techniques can improve fingerling production, meeting the demand for quality fish seeds.”

He added that the lecture was aimed at drawing attention to sustainable fish production, noting that Lokoja can produce more fishes for local consumption and export to other States across the Federation.
