As part of efforts to instill discipline on the road during the Christmas festivities, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has prosecuted 42 motorists for traffic violations on the Lokoja-Abuja highway since the 2014 Ember months campaign started.
Kogi State sector commander, Godwin Omiko, disclosed this yesterday during the Ember months briefing and decoration of newly promoted officers of the command.
He said the motorists were found guilty of overloading and reckless driving among other offences by a mobile court, adding that they were convicted with an option of fine.
Omiko explained that due to surge in traffic volume along the Abuja -Lokoja -Okene highway during the Christmas period, the command would embarked on 24 hour patrol with ambulances on to ensure a traffic flow and reduce road crashes.
