BN Ceramics, God First Bakery makes award list

With barely four days to the Annual Nigerian Post Newspaper Democracy Day Lecture and Award, more names of nominees for award have been released.

This time in the category of Businesses and Entrepreneurship, BN Ceramics, Ajaokuta and God First Bakery have joined those that would be honored at the event that usually bring together intellectuals, to discuss the nation’s and states’ democracy.
Others to be honored in the thirteenth edition of the award series are the Commissioner for Rural Development as well as the Special Adviser to the governor on Yoths and Sports Development.
The theme of this year’s event is, ‘Accountability and Transparency: Key Factors in a Democracy’.
Some Kogi State Council Administrators had earlier made the list of Awardees.  The Administrators are those who in the last one year have distinguished themselves in the socio-economic development of their areas in Kogi State.

The Council Administrators nominated and those who will be honored during this year’s award are those of Ofu, Yagba East, Idah and Kabba LGAs.
Others to also earn the Outstanding Administrator’s Award are those of Kabba Bunu, Ajaokuta and that of Ankpa LGAs.
In a statement issued to pressmen, and signed by Abu Michael, the names of the Administrators came following the close of nomination and close of the portal for nomination of awardees yesterday.
Presently, preparation is now on top gear towards the annual Nigerian Post Newspaper Democracy Day Lecture and Award Program.
While addressing pressmen in Lokoja few days ago, the Publisher and Editor in Chief of the Newspaper, Abu Micheal said this year’s event, which is the thirteenth in the series, promises to be exciting as the Chief of Staff to Kogi state Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, has been nominated for the Nigerian Post Newspaper Icon of Democracy award.
The Icon of Democracy award honor those who have helped nurture and stabilize democracy and good governance in the state.
The nomination of Chief Edward Onoja, the statement said followed his support to the Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, and his efforts at making youths gainfully empowered and appointed, like has never been witnessed in the State.
The award presentation, the Publisher disclosed would take place on the 25th day of May, 2017 by 10am at the Children’s Amusement Park, Lokoja.
Hon Idris Asiwaju and Mr Joel Tope will be the lead speakers at the occasion.
Hajia Rashida Bello, wife of the Executive Governor, would also be honored as the Nigerian Post Newspaper Woman of the Year.
The honor is in recognition of the first lady’s role in girl child education, women empowerment and her rural health care initiative described as superlative and overwhelming by over a thousand respondents who nominated her across the North Central States of Nigeria.
Also, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, Special Adviser, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, is the Nigerian Post Newspaper Man of the Year. The award is in recognition of his efforts at ensuring accountability and transparency at the grassroots level of government.
Governor Yahaya Bello is expected as the Special Guest of Honor at the occasion, while Dr John Alabi, National Chairman, Institute of Classic Entrepreneurs, will serve as the chairman of the occasion.
HRM, Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Maikarfi 111, the Maigari of Lokoja and Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, Madaki of Wa’ari, Ganaja Village, will grace the event as Royal fathers of the day.
Activities of the event, which the publisher disclosed would enjoy live television and live streaming coverage is on top gear, as the governors of the North Central States, where the Nigerian Post Newspapers circulates, will have their representation.
