The Institute of Global Facilities Management has conferred a companionship award on a former first lady of Kogi State, Dr Aisha Audu-Emeje for empowering less-privileged Nigerians through her pet project, known as Wise-P.
A statement signed by the institute’s registrar/chief executive officer, Mr Jonah Omachi, which was made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend, yesterday, noted that Aisha’s pet project has since its creation, impacted positively on the lives of Nigerians in the areas of infrastructural development, poverty alleviation and educational advancement.
Omachi explained that the award, which would be conferred on her on October 28, 2014, is in recognition of her immense efforts in alleviating the plights of Nigerian youths, women and for empowering a lot of rural women in Kogi State.
Audu-Emeje’s pet project, according to the institute, has also intervened in the payment of hospital bills for over 200 patients who have different health challenges in both Nigerian and Indian hospitals.
“She has assisted the Ekundayo Orphanage Homes in Isanlu. Yagba East, Kogi State, spent over a million naira in school rebuilding projects in Okene and equally paid school fees for students under her scholarship scheme in Kogi State University,” the statement reads.
The institute therefore enjoined wealthy Nigerians and philanthropists to emulate Dr Audu-Emeje by helping the less-privileged.
