As the political climate gathers momentum preparatory to the 2027 general elections, various political groups/block are re-aligning and strategizing to make necessary political impact and gains.

In the same vein, existing political parties are also strategizing in order to have what it takes to get hold and control of the government at the centre.

It is for the above reason that politicians who lack role-play in the present A.P.C led government are mobilizing to form a coalition to take over power from the ruling All Progressive Congress Party.

Recently, the coalition was unveiled as a political party using the ADC platform, a move that saw the ADC national chairman and secretary vacated their position for new leaders that emerged from the coalition.

Regardless of the coalition that fused into ADC, other existing political parties did not fold their arms as they are engaged in an in-house cleansing and strategizing to be able to take over or control power at the centre.

In the APC, the party in government, it has dismissed the coalition as of no threat, as it is comprised of desperate politicians who just want to grab power. In spite of this opinion the party holds, the party is not giving anything to chances.

As part of efforts to re-stategise and update the party for purpose of holding on to power came 2027, it is national chairman, Alhaji Umar Ganduje has resigned his position to pave way for a more agile, vibrant and resourceful national party chairman.

Even though I remain apolitical, but I am a keen sympathizer of the APC, for the simple reason that it is the party that provided the platform for the emergence of two successive governor from Ebiraland, i.e. former governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the present, governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

It is for this mere but important reason that my inner mind brooded over the vacant position of the APC national chairman that has been zoned by the part to North Central.

Even though, some names are being marketed in the media as possible candidates from North Central that are interested in the position, I consider these names as not weighty as that of former governor Yahaya Bello, whose credibility and worth sent jitters into the spine of the opposition. Therefore, I verily urge him to contest the position.

Reading the history of his early days, it was clear that Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello was not just another young man with dreams—he was a goal-getter with divine determination. Born with an unshakable drive for excellence and an innate ability to lead, Yahaya Bello carved a name for himself long before he set foot into the arena of Nigerian politics. He never embarked on any journey without the intention of succeeding, and time and time again, he has proven that success is not only possible—it is inevitable when determination meets vision.

His formative years at Ahmadu Bello University were marked by leadership traits and charisma that drew people to him. It was during these years that he laid the foundation for his political interest and future endeavors. Even while pursuing his studies, he ventured into the transport business—a sector many fear for its complexities. Yet, he emerged victorious and impactful through Fair Plus Transport Company, a thriving business based in Benue State. The company provided jobs for many and showcased his commitment to economic empowerment, even outside his home state.

Yahaya Bello’s entry into politics was not accidental—it was ordained and timely. Much like the biblical Moses, who led his people out of bondage. When he became Governor of Kogi State, he boldly challenged and rebalanced the scales of power and opportunity.

His administration was marked by bold reforms, infrastructure development, and a clear effort to unify the diverse ethnic groups within the state. He championed youth empowerment, women’s inclusion in governance, and the overall restructuring of the political and administrative landscape of Kogi State. On the overall, he laid the foundation of enduring peace/security across Kogi State.

No doubt, given the opportunity, former governor Yahaya Bello will form an ideal APC National chairman.
