A board member of the Nigeria Handball Federation, Mrs Funmi Kanjuni has called on the Kogi state government to give priorities to other medal producing sports in the state.
This is coming after Comrade MD Eseyin, Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment, Sports and Student Affairs promised more state government support to Confluence Queens and Kogi United.

In her words; “SA sports, there are 22 sports and I hope you are well informed of other Kogi strong games, please check out the information so that you can make a good mark for your principal”.
Funmi noted that the 19th National Sports Festival is around the corner, as Kogi state cannot afford to be absent.
She also pleaded with the state sport council to work on the state government for the rehabilitation of the sports hall.
On the issue of mass exodus of the state athletes, Funmi said “my game HANDBALL, Kogi is a factory for other states as a result of lack of incentives for our athletes and officials”.
“Yagba east and Idah local governments, from their meager resources did a lot for this game, to enable our state have a strong senior team”, she noted.
She added that “No competition is complete without Kogi state athletes participating for other states, which is very disappointing”.
