Flood: SEMA Boss Urges Kogi Residents to Adhere to Directive

The acting secretary, Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alice Ogedegbe, has advised residents of the state to heed the advice of the state government to relocate from flood-prone areas to higher ground.
The SEMA boss said it was necessary to remind residents on the need to relocate from flood-prone areas in view of NIMETโ€™s prediction and the devastating effect of last yearโ€™s flood.
In a statement, the agencyโ€™s Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Ibikunle, said sensitization campaigns have been carried out across the state on the need for people to obey the directive.
The statement said the state government does not want to be caught unawares by flood, and that it has commenced preparations to ensure that the people do not suffer too much if floods occur.
The statement said the workshop and seminar organized by UNICEF and other stakeholdersย  will help the agencyย  and others saddled with disaster management to function effectively.
