Those building along shorelines have been advised to learn a lesson from the recent flood that submerged buildings and destroyed properties worth Billions of Naira.
Capt. Idris Wada stated this while taking assessment of the 200 units of Federal Government Houses in Ajaokuta, to be acquired by the State Government to relocate displaced persons from Lokoja. Represented by his Deputy,
Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, said the State Government has already taking the inventory of the buildings and what will be required to provide light, water and other facilities that will make the place habitable.
The Governor frowned at those who have rushed to quickly occupy the houses from Ajaokuta, said the buildings will mainly be meant for those displaced in Lokoja, who are currently residing in Primary Schools.
The buildings he noted will enable some schools in Lokoja to re-open while it will also serve as residents for those that will be relocated from the shorelines.
People are advice by the Governor not to build close to the waters again in view of the lessons learnt from the recent flooding, said the State will come up with building regulation which makes it offensive for anyone to build outside the stipulated guidelines.
The Governor warned those who have illegally occupied the Raccafo quarters in Ajaokuta to in their own interest vacate the properties and await State Government allocation.
