TREES On Earth Development Foundation (TEDF) has called on the Kogi State Government to as a matter of priority fish out those behind the recent dastardly killings that took place in the state.
TEDF urged the state government to strive in its efforts to stop the spate of killings by bandits taking place in the state, disclosed that a responsible government is measured by the emphasis it places on the protection of lives and properties.
In a statement issued and signed by Moses Adedeji, Executive Director TEDF, he particularly called on the Kogi State Government to show more concern over the spate of violent killings the state has witnessed in recent times, without hiding on that the cover of setting up panel of enquiries.
TEDF particularly notes with concern recent massacre in communities of Dekina, Omala, Bassa, and in other parts of the state where innocent citizens where brutally murdered.
The statement issued to mark the National Day of Mourning for victims of violent killings across the country, TEDF observed calls for political, religious leaders and other critical stakeholders to take the urgent and necessary steps to stop these killings and deaths across the state.
TEDF described peace and unity as panacea for sustainable growth and development, warned against actions that would make the state unhabitable.
Security agencies working in Kogi State were charged by TEDF to up their game in terms of intelligence gathering, noting that it is regrettable that this heinous crime can be hatched and executed, without the knowledge of security agencies.
As a way of building confidence, TEDF tasked the Kogi State Government to unravel the perpetrators of the dastardly attacks in the state and ensure that they are brought to justice.
TEDF warned against failure by government to show serious concern in preventing the killings, pointing out that it is cost effective in prevention, adding that it would not do the state any good having people killed or internally displaced owing to bandits killings.
