FG Urged to Restructure Ankpa Power Supply

The Executive Ankpa Local government chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu has urged the federal government to restructure Ankpa light from the Geregu plan or any plant that will make the council have a steady power supply for at least,18 hours per day.

The Council boss, made the charges in his office, on Thursday when he received the delegates from the headquarter of the Federal Ministry of power, Abuja.

Abagwu, how was represented by the council Secretary of the council, Hon. Idris Ray Akus, said, “According to the information collected, Ankpa is currently generating power from Oturkpo local government area of Benue State, but they hardly supply power to Ankpa and this has resulted in blackout for months, if not years”.

“True, Ankpa is suffering from a shortage of power supply, and you know a cosmopolitan area like Ankpa needs power for business to strive effectively. Again, lots of electrical poles are at fault, and plenty of villages do not even have transformers.

“We are seeking the intervention of the Federal Ministry of Power to help in providing concrete poles and transformers,” he appealed.

On his part, Engr, Iyiola lauded the council chairman for his warmed hospitality, saying that Ankpa power shortage would be restructured as he appealed.

He revealed that the Ejeh Ankpa, HRH, King Sadiq Ahmed II, came to the Federal Ministry of Power office some days back to lodge a complaint about the incessant power outage in Ankpa and to know the reason for the shortage of power supply in the area.

“When such official and royal complaint is lodged, it becomes the Ministry’s duty to delegate members to the affected area and get first-hand information for any possible onward ways to profer solution to the challenge,” he said.
