The Federal Ministry of Water Resources has called on state governments, private water suppliers to imbibe the culture of maintaining high level hygiene in water supply to the people.
The Deputy Director, department water resources management and safety, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja, Rukayat Bako made the call while declaring open a two day workshop on community water safety supply held at Halims Hotel Lokoja.
Mrs Bako averred that the volume of water and it’s daily usage cannot be quantified. She noted that the workshop was therefore timely in enhancing water supply to the citizenry.
The Deputy Director thanked the North Central states representatives for attending the workshop. She urged them to make good use of the knowledge the resources person will impact on them on water safety.
A member of the organizing team from the Federal Ministry of water Resources Abuja, Mrs Chinyere Obiano told The Graphic that the aim of the workshop is to build the capacity of water service providers across the state adding that the workshop would also enable the participants to understand the benefit of effective water supply.

The Resource person at the workshop, Dr. Mrs Grace Oluwasanya stated that effective water supply to Nigeria communities should involve experts. She noted that Nigerians must be provided with portable water for citizens to live healthy lives.
A participant at the workshop, Babatunde Abdulrahaman said the workshop was apt in repositioning water supply in Nigeria. He thanked the Federal Ministry of water Resources Abuja for organizing the workshop.
