The Federal College of Education Okene has spent over N10 million training its staff, the Provost of the college, Professor Ajayi Iyela has said.
Professor Iyela while speaking during a capacity building workshop for academic staff of the institution, said there is no alternative to staff training in an academic environment.
He said the theme of this year’s workshop, ‘Handling Research Works’, was very apt considering the fact that most of the tasks undertaken by the lecturers are mainly research based.
He also said the college is awaiting final approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on the proposed degree programme of the college and everything needed for smooth take-off is ready.
He added that the University of Ibadan and the NUC are already working out the technical details to ensure a hitch free programme
