The Kogi state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Mr Babatunde Irukera on the confirmation of his appointment as the Director-General of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
The council, in a statement in Lokoja on Tuesday, described the appointment of Irukera as well deserved and a confirmation of his sterling performance in office.
The state NUJ Council Chairman and Secretary, Mr Adeiza Momoh Jimoh and Mr Adamu Seidu respectively signed the statement.
“Your appointment, no doubt, is a reward for diligence, hardwork, patriotism and above all commitment to protecting the rights of the consumers in the country.
“It is also a demonstration of the fact that we still have people who are genuinely interested in building a country that will be a pride to generations yet unborn,” the statement said.
The NUJ said it is proud to be associated with Irukera and his track records of achievements in FCCPC, urging him to keep the flag flying.
“We pray God to continue to give you the wisdom and good health to discharge the responsibilities of your present office,” the statement added.
