Father of Slain Kogi Youth Seeks Justice

Alhaji Yakubu Otu Enesi, father of Muhammed Rashid Yakubu, who was killed alongside his friend in Okene area of Kogi State has called on the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar and state police commissioner, Hilary Okpara, to bring to the perpetrators of the act to book.
Muhammed Rashid Yakubu was killed by unknown gunmen on June 18, alongside his friend, Lekwa Emagha, at his father’s petrol station along Auchi road.
Alhaji Yakubu said his son accompanied by his friend were at his filling station to oversee the day’s sales when gunmen in masks stormed the station and shot them at close range. He said the victims died before they could get treatment.
He alleged that his son had been having a running battle with one of his former employees, who resigned from the company after he was caught and arrested by the police while stealing fuel.
According to him, Muhammed and his friend were killed a day after the former employee was released by the police.
When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Romanus Nwanneri, said he would confirm and get back to our correspondent, but a police source said three suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing.
