Kogi Patriotic Group (KPG) has assured Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West) of overwhelming support for his re-election to the red chamber under any platform in 2019 provided he sustain the fight against corruption and bad leadership.
The group spokesman, Abdul Abdul gave the assurance in a get-well-soon message sent to Melaye.
Abdul said Melaye’s re-election is already guaranteed by the failed recall process engineered by Kogi State government.
He said Senator Melaye is an asset worth preserving by the people of Kogi West.
Abdul advised other lawmakers from Kogi State in the Senate and House of Representatives to drop any political or personal differences and rally round Senator Melaye to provide needed leadership in Kogi.
He said; “in the last three years, Senator Melaye’s family and political associates have been most persecuted because of his unrepentant clamour of good leadership in the state and at the national level.
“The shameful mace-stealing conduct at the Senate by security agencies in collaboration with Kogi state government and later police brutality on a serving Senator Melaye over trumped up charges is a big threat to Nigerian democracy.
“We have confidence that Senator Melaye will occupy the leadership of the Senate in future. Melaye has made enough sacrifice for the country’s democratic practice to thrive, from his experience at the lower house to his current ordeal, it is a clear sign of greatness to come in future,” he said.
Abdul Abdul urged Kogi West electorates to vote Senator Melaye again come 2019 to ensure sane and robust democratic practice in Kogi state and the entire nation.
