Excessive Intake of Tramadol Kills Man at Ejule, Ofu LG

A tragic case of drug abuse reportedly led to the death of a middle-age man, Sumaila Enemali, in Ejule, Ofu local government area of Kogi State.

Enemali Sumaila is a native of Ubi-Aja Ejule.

According to our source, the late Enemali and an unnamed friend competed to see who among them can swallow the highest number of Tramadol. This event, we gathered, happened six days ago. Eye witness accounts alleged that Enemali’s friend deceived Enemali and pretended that he has swallowed five capsules. Enemali, in a bid to out do his friend reportedly swallowed eight capsules.

Our source claimed that Enemali was rushed to a native doctor the next morning when residents noticed he did not wake up after several attempts to wake him from slumber.

When his friend that deceived him later informed his family that over-dose of Tramadol might have caused Enemali’s predicament, attempts were made to rush him to a hospital at Ochadamu where he died.

Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever, used to treat moderate to severe pain. Experts advised that tramadol should not be administered if the user have used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or narcotic medications within the past few hours.

MISUSE OF NARCOTIC PAIN MEDICATION CAN CAUSE ADDICTION, OVERDOSE, OR DEATH, especially in a child or other person using the medicine without a prescription.
