Former gubernatorial aspirant in the 2015 general elections, Mr. Moses Amoto, has sought for the declaration of state of emergency in Kogi state, saying that governor Yahaya Bello has failed woefully.

Speaking at Kogi Youth Stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja Saturday, the politician who is the interim Chairman of the forum lamented that, “it was painful that Osun State permanent Secretary who came to Lokoja for a function was shot dead by unknown assailants on Friday.”

He, however, suggested that it was not a coward’s alternative for Bello to resign, adding that such would save the state from further grievous pains.

“It is clear to all that APC led government in Kogi state has failed and the governor should resign or in the alternative, a state of emergency be declared”, he said.

“It is justified for such things to happen, because few days ago, a permanent Secretary from Osun State who came to the state for a function was shot dead by unknown gun men among other killings”, he added.

He alleged that the governor was sponsoring militia in the guise of ‘vigilante’ in order to get to his political opponents ahead of 2019 elections.

According to him, the vigilantes are fully armed by the Governor at the peril of the state, while calling on the  Inspector General of Police to wade into the matter immediately.

He also wondered at a training of vigilantes in parts of the state that led to the death of a man on Thursday, noting that there was nowhere in the country that community arranged vigilantes were turned into paramilitary.

“On Thursday, a rigorous military training of a vigilante members led to the death of one of them. The question is when did vigilantes become paramilitary in Nigeria”, he maintained.
