A one-time Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Samuel Ola Akande has described the emergence of Governor Idris Wada and Yomi Awoniyi, his Deputy, as divine and called on the people to join hands with them in building a virile State.
He also appeals to the people of the State to continue to show understanding and support to the Capt. Idris Wada-led administration.
The pioneer Deputy Governor of Kogi State made the appeal while on a visit to the office of the State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi.
The former Deputy Governor said having watched closely the activities of the Governor and his Deputy in the last two years, the administration he disclosed is purposeful and determined to re-write the under development the State has witnessed in the past.
Chief Akande, described the Deputy Governor as a son who has learnt the ropes politically and administratively, said he has remained a shining pride for creditably discharging his supportive function.
While disclosing that he is not surprised at the effectiveness and contributions of the present Deputy Governor, Chief Akande said he is very optimistic that the Deputy Governor will sustain the confidence reposed on him.
Chief Akande, described the challenges associated with governance in modern day Nigeria as challenging, but praised the Wada and Awoniyi, led administration for been able to weather the storm, and to have delivered democracy dividends to people of the State.
The elder statesman, said what the present administration in the state needs from the people now is their prayers, said he is ready to avail to Yomi Awoniyi, his wealth of experience gathered when he served as Deputy. Chief Akande urged him to continue to hold onto those virtues, which he noted had made him stand out over the years.
In his remarks, Yomi Awoniyi, State Deputy Governor said the visit by one who had occupied the office years ago, will enable him tap from his rich fountain of experience.
Yomi Awoniyi, described the present administration in the State as one in a hurry to meet the yearning and aspiration of the people, described Capt. Idris Wada as a leader with the interest of the State at heart.
The Deputy Governor promised his continuous loyalty and support to his boss, the State Governor, said the visit will enable him remain focus in the task of supporting the transformation agenda of the Wada, led administration.
