The Kogi State Project Coordinator of Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto has presented 2018 work plan of the state technical committee of the project for ratification.
Jatto made the presentation to the Kogi state steering committee of the project in Lokoja on Friday.
She told members of the committee that the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) and State Technical Committee had painstakingly made their contributions, leading to the approval of the 2018 Work Plan.
Kogi State Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, and Chairman, State Steering Committee, Hon. Sanusi Yahaya thanked the Project Coordinator, her team, and members of the STC for a job well done.
He added that he was happy with the level of support being given to the project by Governor Yahaya Bello.
The commissioner reiterated Kogi state government’s determination to deal with all environmental challenges in the state, as well as continually give the project the much needed support for tackling the challenge of gully erosion in the state.
At the end of deliberations, the State Steering Committee (SSC) ratified the Work Plan, while members promised to always work towards ensuring the success of the project in the State.
