Era of Doling Out Money In The Name of Empowerment is Over – Lokoja LG Chair

AS part of his determination to stem the tide of money politics in Lokoja Local Government Area, especially as it concerns empowerment of the people, the Chairman, Hon (Alhaji) Aliyu Baba Usman has reiterated the determination of his government to empower the people in the real sense of the word.

The Chairman who stated this in a speech he delivered last week on the occasion of the flag-off of free computer training for the people of the area, said the scheme has been designed to be skill acquisition- driven.

Hon (Alhaji) Usman who submitted that the programme was essentially packaged to impart computer knowledge on selected participants, added that it has come to add impetus to his empowerment scheme which he recently flagged-off.

The free Computer Training project which is in conjunction with Azess World Technologies Limited, according to the Chairman, is aimed at making the trainees to become employers of employees upon completion.

The Chairman stated: “The era of doling out money in the name of empowerment is over.”

Hon Usman, who made a cheerful revelation when he told the gathering that the Local Government’s Model Training Centre would be resuscitated to offer effective training on myriad of skills, including tailoring, knitting, weaving and catering services also informed that such measure would assist his administration in empowering the people the more.

He also appealed to the beneficiaries to use the opportunity offered them by the free computer training programme, to take advantage and become computer literate so that they could fit into the global village.

He restated his determination to provide enabling environment for the trainees to be able to acquire quality training.

One of the beneficiaries who spoke to The Graphic, Mohammed Maikudi, expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman for his determination to see that youths in the Local Government are empowered.
