The recent lingering epileptic power supply amidst exorbitant electricity bills in Kogi State is an issue that a strategic communication from the right quarters would have solved, or at least put consumers’ minds at ease.
A few months ago, Agencies were created to oversee electricity distribution and regulation in Kogi State —Kogi State Electricity Distribution Limited (KEDL) and Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC).
A bold and proactive move that would have boosted the state’s economy and as well create job opportunities

The two agencies were saddled with the responsibility of ensuring adequate and improved power supply to the people of Kogi State but unfortunately what the people have experienced in the last few months was unprecedented power outage and high electricity bills.
It has been established that the Kogi State Electricity Distribution Limited (KEDL) has taken over the billing of electricity consumption of users in Kogi State and even went further to review the tariff upward.
Why, then, has it become difficult for the agency to address the consumer complaints?
The long silence of Kogi State Electricity Distribution Limited (KEDL) amidst prolonged complaints from consumers about power outage demonstrates a high level of irresponsibility on the part of the agency and its administrators
If you can hurriedly take over the billing of electricity consumers and even go further to increase the cost of electricity, you should be responsible enough to address consumers’ concerns when they cry out
KEDL and KERC must provide answers and solutions to the questions and cries of Kogites immediately without any further delay.
Enough is Enough!
