All is now set for the first inaugural sanitation day exercise approved by Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, to be held every last saturday of the month. The one for October which signals the commencement of the exercise comes up tomorrow, 25th October 2014, beginning from 7am to 10am.
The sanitation exercise according to the statement from the office of the Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, became imperative in order to involve all stakeholders across the state in the cleanliness of the environment as well as to cope with the astronomical growth of daily waste generation in the state.
Towards ensuring the effectiveness of the environmental sanitation day exercise tomorrow ,there will be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles from 7.00am to 10.00am.
As measures to ensure compliance, security agents have been instructed to arrest those who contravene the sanitation exercise rules, adding that such people will be arraigned before specially constituted mobile courts that will sit tomorrow.
Citizens of the states are therefore advised to take the exercise as their civic responsibility and are enjoined to keep their environment and Kogi State clean.
