As part of a collaborative initiative between the Department of Mass Communication and the Kogi State University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub (KIEH), participants at the 2025 Mediapreneurship Pitchathon have been presented with certificates of business registration.
In a statement issued by the University Image Maker, Oshaloto Tade, the businesses were registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) by the Hub as part of the prizes for their outstanding performance in the competition.
Presenting the certificates, the Vice Chancellor, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, hailed the initiative as a commendable move toward equipping students with entrepreneurial capacity and real-world problem-solving skills. He emphasized that the university remains committed to raising graduates who are job creators rather than job seekers.
He further noted that the Department of Mass Communication is leading the way in shifting education from regurgitative learning to practical engagement. According to him, true entrepreneurship is not merely about arts and crafts or small trade, but about professionals identifying and deploying their skills to provide innovative solutions to society’s challenges.
The student-led businesses registered through the KSU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub include: StudyHaven Media Hub, Campus Innovibes, Lift, MindHive Media, and Campus Reel.
Professor Eniola commended the students for transforming classroom knowledge into viable ventures and assured them of the university’s continued support as they grow their enterprises.

Meanwhile, the Director of the KSU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub, Dr. Fanisi Babatunde, also expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his consistent support and reaffirmed the commitment of the Hub to nurturing student-led innovation and enterprise.
Also, the course lecturer, Mrs. Opeyemi Ologun, thanked the university leadership and pledged her continued mentorship for the students, encouraging them to fully explore the entrepreneurial possibilities within their field of study.
