Enefola Major Promises Legislative Support as KGHA Inaugurates Committee on Security

 The Chairman of the Kogi State House of Assembly Committee on Security, Vigilante and Home Affairs, Hon. Enefola Major has expressed his readiness to provide adequate legislative support to law enforcement agencies in the state to enhance the protection of lives and properties.

Hon. Enefola made the pledge during the inauguration of the House Committee on Security, Vigilante and Home Affairs held at the hallowed chamber of the Kogi State House of Assembly, in Lokoja.

In his address, Hon. Enefola expressed his appreciation to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alhaji Yusuf Aliyu-Umar for giving him “the opportunity to chair this all important committee.” 

He also stated that “we are all aware that no aspect of governance is as complex and demanding as  security. No nation progresses in the face of insecurity and anarchy.

“We are blessed to have a proactive Governor who has always taken adequate measures towards preventing the infusion of criminal elements from other troubled neighboring states. This has won him a national award as the best performing Governor on security matters. It is our collective responsibility therefore to uphold this effort by embarking and prioritizing anti-crime campaigns in Kogi State through effective communication network and efficient legislation.

“We shall not fail to influence this Honourable House to appropriate through supplementary budgets, adequate fund that will enable the state arrest various security threats posed by electioneering campaign as we move towards the 2023 Gubernatorial election in the state.”

He also warned against misappropriation of funds and appreciated the efforts of the Joint Taskforce in combating criminal entities in the state. He thanked the Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Alhaji Samari Teina Abdulmalik for  what he has achieved with the little resources accruing to them from the government.

The inauguration was attended by Hon  Idrees Aliyu Maikudi (Lokoja/Kotto) who is also the Vice Chairman of the committee, Hon Amodu Seidu Shehu (Ofu), Hon  Bello  Oluwaseyi Victor (Kabba/Bunu) as well as major security stakeholders.
