Kogi State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo has called in Nigerian youths to stay away from any form of protest.

He admonished youths to redirect their energies to more profitable ventures that will benefit them, their families and the nation.

Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Friday, Fanwo urged youths in the country to reject the proposed #EndBadGovernance protest in the interest of sustainable peace and development.

Fanwo advised the youths to take the protest to the farm lands and improve food security and the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).

According to him, government cannot afford any protest that will lead to looting and destruction, saying the nation was yet to recover from the consequences of the #EndSARS protest.

He noted that although protest is the fundamental human rights of Nigerians, those calling for protest now are enemies of the country, noting that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has made it clear that Kogi State will not be part of the protest.

The Commissioner explained that government and security agencies are on red alert to avert any form of destructive protest, saying the interest of those calling for the protest is selfish and political.

Fanwo added that Government concentrating on building on the legacies of former Governor Yahaya Bello by revamping the state economy and producing food for the people.

“As far as Kogi State is concern, count us out of the protest. We have urged our youths to sign up for #NotInMyState protest because we don’t want any protest that will destabilise the peace of our dear state. We are urging the youths to stay away from any form of protest.

“We are urging parents to put an eye on their wards to ensure that they don’t join any destructive protest. We are not saying that the country is where it ought to be but we are saying that the Federal Government under the leadership of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard to get us to where we should be.”
