Member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro federal constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has trained one hundred youths in welding as part of his empowerment program for youth of the Federal Constituency.
The beneficiary youths were drawn from across the three local government areas of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro federal Constituency.
The youths expressed gratitude to Hon Halims for the gesture which they described as a deliberate act of teaching them how to fish rather than giving them fish.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the resource person, Engr Lawal Ibrahim Umar advised the beneficiaries not to take the knowledge acquired for granted stressing that apart from the economic benefits of such, it is a professional experience that can stand them out among their contemporaries in the larger society.
The empowerment was organized in partnership with the National Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) and aims to equip the beneficiaries with the much needed knowledge of welding, transportation technology and its application to the socio-economy development of Ankpa Federal Constituency in particular and Nigeria in general.
It can be recalled that in addition to a long list of bills and motions of significant national importance, Hon Halims has been at the front burner of national development through his contributory performance in Ankpa Federal Constituency of Kogi State which includes the distribution of vocational facility to about one thousand constituents last year, educational developmental strides as well as agricultural development.
