An All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart and a governorship aspirant in the last election in Kogi State, Dr Yaqeen Abdullah Habeeb has congratulated Muslims and Nigerians on the completion of the fasting of the holy month of Ramadan. He said Nigerians should take the blessings of the month beyond the month of Ramadan.
In a press statement made available by his spokesperson, Mr. Emmanuel Adejoh, Dr. Habeeb reiterated that the lessons of the month which includes but not limited to building self-control, self-restraint, self-education, self-evaluation, forgiveness and sacrifice should be the guiding principles of our people. These virtues, he says, are required for peaceful living with every member of the society. These are also required for building a strong and reliant economy.
Fasting in the month, he postulates is essentially for one to imbibe righteousness and thereby striving to please God by performing acts which positively affect the welfare of others.
The renowned economist also called on Governor Yahaya Bello and Senator Dino Malaye to hang their boxing gloves, sheathe the sword and give peace a chance so that love, harmony, cooperation and synergy can be pressed in motion to realise our desire for development of Kogi State.
He called on the National Executive of APC to do more by bringing the Governor and the Senator to a round table in Abuja to resolve their differences and bring about peace and harmony within Kogi State APC.
He also advised the Kogi State Government to as a matter of urgency pay all the salary arrears owed the civil servants and the pensioners in the State to ameliorate the current sufferings of our people, adding that the dreams of making Kogi State an industrial hub of the nation is far from being realized despite the abundant resources endowment of the State.
He called on Nigerians to pray fervently for the speedy recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari while acknowledging the good work of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and his loyalty, leadership qualities and determination to move the country forward.
