A top contender for Lokoja local government chairmanship seat, Hon. Bin-ebaiya Tijjani Shehu, has congratulated Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-edil adha.
In a message personally signed by him and made available to press in Lokoja, the chairmanship hopeful appealed to the faithfuls to adhere to the teaching of Islam and replicate same in their daily lives for a better society.
He advised Muslims Ummah not to be carried away by only the pageantry of Edil- Adha, but to use it for sober reflection.
Shehu admonished faithfuls on the need to extend good gestures and hands of support to the needy in the society as well as pray against the current security and economic situation of the country.
He emphasised the importance of peace, unity and tolerance among the diverse people of the Lokoja local government in particular and the state in general.
Part of the statement reads: “As you join the rest of the Ummah all over the world to celebrate this year’s Eid Adha, I enjoin you to replicate and demonstrate it in your daily lives.
“The lessons and virtues of sacrifice, forgiveness, piety, and genuine love towards one another which you learnt from Prophet Abraham should be sustained.”
He urged Muslims to lift all Lokojans up before God, especially the downtrodden and the leadership of this area, for wisdom and understanding.
Shehu urged Kogites, irrespective of religious persuasions to cement the bond of unity and brotherhood as a people of common destiny, adding that as compatriots, they should contribute meaningfully toward building a peaceful and united Lokoja Local Government in particular and Kogi State in general.
