I am immensely grateful to God for His mercy in guiding us successfully to conclude another Ramadan fast.
My greetings to all Nigerian Muslims and our brothers Christians on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.
My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, I am happy that the holy month of Ramadan in our dear state was observed with the highest regards for peace, love and brotherliness as stipulated by the Holy Qurโan.
It is imperative that Muslim faithful, especially those fortunate enough to be in positions of authority, translate the culture of piety, devotion and total submission to the will of Allah towards ensuring a society free of want, poverty and hunger.
I advise Muslims, and indeed Nigerians, to shun all forms of vices that could hinder harmonious existence with people of other faiths. We must continue to appreciate that our strength as a people lie in our ethnic and religious diversities.
Hence, we should maximize the inherent advantages in such diversities through understanding and respect of the essence of the different faiths.
I pray to God to flood Nigeria with happiness and all the joys of life as we celebrate another festival.
May the lessons of Ramadan namely; piety, self-denial, prayers and generosity to the poor and needy be with us for all time.
I, again, appeal to all Nigerians to avoid reckless statements or actions against our fellow countrymen.
We should all resolve to live in peace and unity in our great country, which is the envy of many less endowed nations.
