Kogi East Senator-Elect, Air Marshal Isaac Mohammed Alfa (Rtd) has joined other leaders to felicitate with Muslim Ummah in Kogi east senatorial district, Kogi state, Nigeria and the world at large.
In his message, Alfa who described Eid Al-Adha as a solemn occasion, urged the people to seize the moment as an opportunity for Muslim brothers and sisters to show greater faith which is manifested through respect, allegiance, obedience and responsibility.
In his words; “As the Muslim Umma all over the world celebrates on the 12th of September 2016, with joy and happiness, Eid Ul-Adha to commemorate the sacrifice of the Prophet Ibrahim (Aleyhi Salam), I am particularly delighted to extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes of good health and happiness to the people of Kogi East, Kogi State and Nigeria in general.
“This solemn occasion should be an opportunity for our Muslim brothers and sisters to show greater faith which is manifested through respect, allegiance, obedience and responsibility.
“I urge all the people of Kogi East across religious divide to remain steadfast, prayerful and patriotic in the course of bringing the desired political benefits to our people and in the face of the current economic challenge. The virtues of moderation, piety and being our brother’s keeper should subsist beyond the pilgrimage and the celebration of this occasion. Let me remind us once again that the Kogi East Senatorial District, which comprises Igala and Bassa is currently passing through a new political experience that And we should all see the situation as an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our maturity and love for our fellow human beings irrespective of religious, ethnic or political coloration. What the district needs now is a sound political direction.
“I want to emphasize again that if our Zone is to progress, our leaders and followers alike must imbibe the spirit of conciliation and reconciliation. We must suppress our individual instincts, our personal gains and considerations, our animosities, and put our land first above all other thoughts. Rather than celebrating alone, we must use this period to heal, forgive, to unite and support. We must, one and all, suppress our individual and selfish desires for the common good. The war we must wage at this time must be on our core principle of restoring a heritage of values (love and harmonious co-existence) known to Igala/Bassa people. I wish you all happy Eid Ul-Adha celebration”
