The decision to named the centre after the Edward Onoja is informed by his contributions to the association and for proving himself as the as a dependable torchbearer of the Kogi state chapter of the University of Jos Alumni Association.
The Deputy Governor of Edo state, Comrade Phillip Shuaibu, an alumnus of Unijos, will be the special guest of honour at the event.
“In his early days at the University of Jos, Edward Onoja’s commitment to better the society he lived in made him to emerge as the president of the Natural Science Students Association (NASSA), the largest faculty association in the university then. Little wonder his sojourn in the banking sector and the petroleum industry did not kill his spirit for advocacy, strategic planning and political mobilisation.
“Prior to the 2015 general elections, Hon. Onoja was the candidate for the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, for the Olamaboro state House of Assembly Election in 2011. He was also the state coordinator โProject Rescue, Restore and Rebuild” for the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the 2011 governorship election in the state.
“Edwardโs combined effort in handling difficult political situations as leader of various political movements aided his success during the ‘Kogi Youth Arise’ campaign days in 2015 to usher in this present administration in Kogi state. To some he is a political mobilizer while others described him as an uncommon strategist.
The Kogi state chairman of the Association, Builder Oladipo Makakese Bayode, expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello for uplifting members of the association.
