When this ill-fated administration came on board, they started with the slogan called ‘New Direction’. They made us believe that a new Kogi is in the burner. In their usual spirit of political restlessness, as the election is approaching and they see that their chances of re-election are slim in Kogi East, the largest political market in the state, they adopted the slogan ‘Enemuneme’.
When they were faced with a simple political opposition from a naval officer nicknamed ‘Akpabana’, they adopted ‘Omamanya’. What about the group of political sycophants called Emerging Political Leaders? Now, we have another slogan called ‘EBIGO’.
It is clear that the administration of Yahaya Bello has dedicated about 80% of their intellectual and technical abilities on creating slogans that does not have any direct bearing on the socio-economic well being of the people. While the remaining 20% of their abilities are been used for mal-administration tendencies.
Slogans DO not make much impacts on the lives of a citizen but the dividend of democracy with good governance.
We are in a state where political wisdom and common sense have been thrown into the dustbin, where political stupidity and foolishness have taken the driver seat. Where re-election bid of the governor receives more attention from the government than the welfare of the people.
The recently created slogan, ‘EBIGO’ which stands for Ebira, Igala and Okun, is one of the numerous political scam been hatched into the system by the desperate Governor and his hallelujah boys. The governor should have known by now that the problem of Kogi state is not that of Unity per se but that of hunger, poverty, security, infrastructural decay and non-payment of salaries which a political baby of this administration.
The political and administrative balance sheet is in red. A situation where there is a geometrical rise in poverty, hunger and infrastructural decay as against an arithmetic rise in dividends of democracy. The re-election bid of the Governor should not be only a question about the slogan, but what he has done when he had the chance of doing it.
We are witnessing the greatest era of political recklessness and misgivings. We do sincerely hope not to romance these politically ever again. Kogites’ time for liberation is now! Come November, we shall make Kogi great again.
Bello Must Go is the Slogan.
