Ebenezer: When God Helps, No One Can Stop It

God’s help is like rain in a dry land—it turns dust into a garden, makes the weak strong, and lifts the forgotten to the throne. Life is a journey filled with hills and valleys, but when God stretches His hand, even mountains bow, and the rough roads become smooth. The wise ones say, “A child who walks with the elders does not get lost in the market.” In the same way, when God walks with a man, he does not fall into the ditch of destruction. Samuel knew this truth when he lifted a stone and named it Ebenezer, meaning, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” But if God helped them then, can He not help us now?

The world is thirsty for help, but it keeps drinking from broken wells. Nations draft policies, build economies, and make promises, yet hunger, war, and suffering refuse to leave the streets. The heart of man is restless, searching for peace in power, pleasure, and possessions, but like a bird chasing the wind, it finds nothing. Augustine of Hippo, a man who once wasted his days in worldly pleasure, cried out, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in You.” True help does not come from gold or Presidents but from the One who holds time in His hands. A man can receive food and still die of hunger, but when God helps, He gives bread that fills the soul and water that never dries up.

Every nation, every soul, every broken heart needs Ebenezer—the help that only God gives. This help is not the kind that appears for a moment and vanishes like smoke. It is like a tree planted by the riverside, bearing fruit in every season. When David stood before Goliath, men saw a shepherd boy with a stone, but heaven saw a warrior with divine help. When the Red Sea blocked Israel’s path, men saw an obstacle, but heaven saw a highway waiting to be revealed. When Hannah cried in bitterness, men saw a barren woman, but heaven saw a mother of prophets. The help of God is like an invisible hand that turns ordinary men into history-makers.

Yet, the world ignores this help, choosing instead to lean on its own strength. But can a clay pot argue with the potter? Can the moon shine without the sun? The wise Igala elders say, “The lamp that forgets its oil will soon fade into darkness.”
.” The world has forgotten its oil, and that is why it is running empty. A generation that rejects God’s help is like a traveler with no map, wandering until night falls. The call is clear: return to Ebenezer. Turn back to the God who never fails, never sleeps, and never changes. His help is still available, but who will seek it?

God’s help is a mystery, yet it is as real as the air we breathe. It does not follow human logic, yet it is the only solution that works. It turns prisoners into presidents, beggars into givers, and failures into testimonies. Even the greatest minds of history have confessed their need for something greater. C.S. Lewis, who once doubted, later wrote, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it but because by it I see everything else.” The help of God is like light—it does not only remove darkness, but it makes everything clear.

So let the nations, the rulers, the poor, and the rich all remember: the strength of man will always fail, but the help of God is everlasting. If He has helped before, He will help again. If He has saved before, He will save again. Let every heart cry out: Ebenezer! For with God’s help, even the impossible becomes possible.
