The Member representing Okene l State constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed has again canvassed  for a peaceful, harmonious and united Kogi State where brotherly love reigns amongst the citizens.

In his goodwill message to Kogites marking this year’s Easter celebrations in Abuja, he maintained that such virtues as religious tolerance and good neighbourliness are  strategic for  peaceful coexistence and meaningful development.
To achieve the goals, Hon. Lawi urged Kogites to respect the sanctity of the constitution which prescribes freedom of worship in which every citizen can uphold and practice his or her chosen faith anywhere without molestation.

The lawmaker noted: “the situation in Kogi State today calls for trust and confidence building between and among different religious groups which only religious tolerance and harmonious relationship amongst citizens in the State can cure.”

Such issues like the  various ethno- religious conflicts, he stressed retards  growth and development.

Hon. Lawi therefore implored the clergymen to inculcate in their followers the time-tested  virtues of our faith  anchored on love, sacrifice, forgiveness  and good neighbourliness which Jesus Christ symbolizes.

He told Christian faithful to remember the  less privileged in the society.

He also urged government at all levels to put necessary machinery in motion to create an enabling environment for citizens to engage in productive ventures needed to assist the  ailing economy out of the woods.

Hon. Lawi was optimistic that the economic and socio-political challenges at the moment could be a blessing in disguise as it may be the needed tonic to compel the state to diversify the economy for good.

For good governance and ultimate meaningful development, he urged the three arms of government, the Executive, the Judiciary and the Legislature to close ranks and work for the common good of the citizenry.
