DSS Arrests Boko Haram Members Planning Attacks in Kogi, Kano and Kaduna

The Department of State Service (DSS) says it has arrested Boko Haram members planning attacks in Kogi, Kaduna and Kano states.

A statement today from a DSS official, Tony Opuiyo, said a Boko Haram leader Mudaisiru Jibrin, was arrested on the 17th  of July 2016 at Sauna quarters in the Yankaba area of Kano.

Opuiyo said preliminary investigation revealed that he was also the mastermind of the shooting of some students at Government Secondary School (GSS), Mamudo village near Potiskum, Yobe State, in 2013.

He added that the service also arrested a notorious Boko Haram fighter Mukhtar Tijani and three of his accomplices Isiaku Salihu, Abdullahi Isah and Hindu Isah at Kinkinau area in Unguwar Mua’azu, Kaduna metropolis.

He said the four suspects were apprehended while perfecting arrangements for major coordinated attacks on selected targets and locations in Kaduna State.

Opuiyo also said the Service arrested three members of the Ansaru terrorist group in Kogi state. He said they were arrested on 12th August 2016.

He explained that Usman Abdullahi, Abdulmumuni Sadio and Ahmad Salihu were arrested while making arrangements to launch attacks on some selected targets in Edo and Kogi states, before escaping to join ISIS in Libya.
