Dr Alih Urges Police To Investigate Umomi Killings

The House of Assembly member representing Ofu constituency Hon. Dr Friday Alih, has called on the State Government and the Commissioner of police to as a matter of urgency wade into the fracas that erupted between herdsmen, police and Umomi community in Ofu LGA,  which left some people dead.

Dr Alih who made this urgent call when addressing Journalist in Lokoja  over herdsmen and Umomi community crisis yesterday, condemned in strong term the actions of the herdsmen and the police and described it as barbaric and unprofessional .

In his statement, Dr Alih said “I advise the people of Umomi community to be calm and not to put laws into their hands while I Call on the state Government and the commissioner of police to investigate the matter with the view to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book”.

He further advised the members of the community and herdsmen to avoid any action that is capable of jeopardising their harmonious Relationship that has existed for many years.

Dr Alih maintained that Ofu people have been living in peace with the Fulani herdsmen for ages and therefore called on Traditional rulers to checkmate the activities of marauders and be ware of strangers to forestall this ugly incident.

It may be recalled that no fewer than two people were reportedly killed in a clash between herdsmen, police and Umomi community in Ofu LGA of Kogi State.
