Christians and Music Today

I was born again to see true Christians observing landmarks the moment they give their lives to Jesus Christ. Today, compromise has caused true Christians not to stand their ground to uphold the true values of discipline in shunning the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and boastful pride of life. 1 John 2: 15-17. In the new birth experience they trash their worldly records and go for Christian music. Before this action, some did not listen to anyone talking to them that it was bad. It was the convicting power of the Holy Spirit.

Where’s that convicting power of the Holy Spirit now in our churches and our families, in our marketplaces, etc.? The Bible mentions grieving the Holy Spirit, whereby you’re sealed in the day of redemption: “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30). But there is another dimension where the Bible says, “They provoked Him to jealousy with their idols; they vexed Him with their detestable practices… Therefore the Lord was angry and abhorrent to His people, and He gave them into the hands of the nations; and their enemies ruled over them” (Deuteronomy 32:16-17, Psalm 106:40).

Today, dancers and singers who are delusional or self-righteous or sinful, in dire need of their personal salvation, in church or in occasions that suppose to be Christian occasions, are the ones who stand their ground for sinful or any kind of lousy or cool music to go on. But who is to be blamed? The leaders or the spirit of the end time that spares no shepherd nor the sheep?

Do you know that each time you bring in any music that the singer or the instrumentalist has no relationship with Jesus Christ, you’re raising an image of Nebuchadnezzar’s statue, with the head of gold standing for false divine authority, brass speaking of judgment, the clay a type of humanity and mundanity, and the stone will crush the image of jealousy that is standing where Christ is to be honored?

Such occasions, whether in church or outside where true Christians are, the angels will leave the place to take their report back to God. How come about? You’re in the world and of the world, as a born-again pastor or Christian? Everyone wants to be pampered. Evangelist, take it easy, please. May Eli never be your general overseer, and King Saul never be your head of government in your nation where you live.

I thought I’d hear a loud “Amen.” You may say, “That’s what’s happening where I’m worshipping.” What are you still doing there? Dear friend, God didn’t spare children who were innocent when He destroyed Sodom of old. The Bible says, “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the day of the Son of Man, Jesus Christ the Righteous One” (Luke 17:26-30).

All the world’s musicians, young fellows, you have known their name and their worth, and the next place they are performing. On Sunday, you will go and sing the Nigerian new version of “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus, No Turning Back.” That has gone too far, but not too fast, oh. God is a jealous God, and Lucifer is a jealous monster. Don’t stand trying to please God with your music; He is all-mighty; He will do whatever He wants to do.

Azusa revival had no organized musician. Even in church, you can’t bribe God with music. If you sing like a nightingale and play instruments like David, “If I have not love, I am nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:1-3). “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

Salvation Prayer

Dear Jesus, I come to You with a repentant heart. I acknowledge my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose again from the dead. I invite You into my life as my Lord and Savior. Guide me, teach me, and help me to live a life that pleases You. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
